When a parent has a concern about their child’s academic, or social/emotional progress they are encouraged to contact the classroom teacher. The parent and teacher will work collaboratively to develop interventions to meet the child’s needs. Otsego utilizes Intervention Assistance Teams to develop and monitor student progress for at-risk students. Intervention Assistance Teams (IAT) are school based problem solving teams designed to assist teachers and families when students are struggling in school and may consist of teachers, administrators, related service providers, and counselors. At any time during this process, a parent may provide a written request for a special education evaluation to their child’s building principal. A request for an evaluation will be addressed within 30 days from the date received.
