Knights Have Your Back
When the school week ends, the last thing we want our Otsego children to worry about is where their next meal will come from. That's why 'Knights Have Your Back' was established – to offer essential non-perishable food items to those Otsego children in need, ensuring they have nourishment during the weekends. Every Friday, these supplies are discreetly placed in each child's backpack, guaranteeing that no Knight goes to bed hungry. Since its inception in 2017, this program has witnessed significant growth and now extends its support to over 25 Otsego families every week. In addition to food support, we also provide winter coats, boots, and essential hygiene items etc. to those in need. This comprehensive assistance ensures that our children are not only well-fed but also warm and cared for. If you know a child in need of a certain item, please complete the Knights Have Your Back form below.
If you or someone you know at the Otsego school district is in immediate need of non-perishable foods or basic hygiene items, please visit The Armory located on campus near the greenhouse. The Armory is stocked with basic necessities such as food and toiletries intended for any Otsego resident in need to pick up at their convenience. The Armory is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and there are no requirements to who can use it. If you are an Otsego resident in need, The Armory is open for you. This fund has been used to aid families in our community during times of misfortune. Since our inception, we have been able to donate to numerous families within the district during their times of need. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to donate gift cards to families to help pay for gas, food, and immediate needs after car accidents. With your support we have also been able to purchase school supplies for multiple families after experiencing a house fire and a devastating cancer diagnosis. Furthermore, the fund that you helped to build covers expenses to ensure that all students within our district are able to participate in school sponsored activities.
As an Otsego Family, we would like to be better prepared to help with any future crisis. We are asking for your help to continue our fundraising efforts to help those afflicted when an unexpected situation occurs.
Please use the following form to inform us about a family in need within the school district. While the family does not need to have students in the district, we do ask that they are a member of the Otsego Community. Please use this form to share information about their current situation as well as how they can best be assisted.
Please be sure to understand that while Knight in Shining Armor (KISA) would love to help all community members in need, we may not have the funds to do so. With that being said, our committee will consider each request on a case by case basis. Filling this form out does not guarantee that we will be able to assist the family, but we will try our hardest to do so!
