What is the role of the Superintendent?
The Superintendent is the chief executive officer of the school district, responsible for overseeing daily operations, leading long-term planning, and ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education. This includes working with the Board of Education, administrators, teachers, staff, families, and community partners to keep the district moving forward.
How can I contact the Superintendent directly?
You can reach me by email - koshea@otsegoknights.org or phone (419) 823-4381 ext. 1102 through the district office. I welcome communication from families and community members and make every effort to respond in a timely manner. You can also use the following form to request a meeting: Request A Meeting Form
Does the Superintendent meet with parents or community members?
Yes! I regularly meet with families, community members, and organizations. Whether through scheduled office visits, public events, or informal conversations, I believe building relationships is essential to our success.
How does the district communicate important news and updates to families?
We use multiple platforms to keep families informed: ParentSquare, email, our district website, newsletters, and social media channels. In addition, principals send out weekly building-specific updates, and I send a monthly district newsletter to make sure parents stay connected.
Are there regular community meetings or coffee talks with the Superintendent?
Yes. I attend many local events throughout the year. These are open opportunities to ask questions, share feedback, and learn more about district initiatives in an informal setting. In addition, we have a regularly scheduled board meeting each month. Click Here to see when our board meetings are held.
What steps is the district taking to ensure student safety?
Student safety is our top priority. We address safety using a two-pronged approach. First, we emphasize building a positive school culture where every student feels safe and supported. Second, we prepare by conducting regular safety drills, partnering with law enforcement and first responders, upgrading facilities and security technology, and providing training for staff and students. The district has two full-time armed safety personnel. We employ a full-time campus safety director, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office provides us with a full-time School Resource Officer.
How does the district handle emergencies or school closings?
Families are notified immediately through our ParentSquare system, social media, and local media outlets. We also follow a clear emergency operations plan that prioritizes student and staff safety.
