Gifted Services
According to the Ohio Revised Code, a gifted student is a child who performs or shows the potential to perform at a very high level compared to other children of the same age, experience, or environment.
Ohio recognizes giftedness in several specific areas:
- Superior cognitive ability (overall thinking and reasoning skills)
- Specific academic ability (in areas like reading, math, science, or social studies)
- Creative thinking ability (coming up with new and original ideas)
- Visual or performing arts ability (exceptional talent in art, music, drama, or dance)
