LanSchool Installation (Mac)

There are two parts to this installation. The first part is configuring your computer to automatically connect to a shared folder where the LanSchool class lists are stored and the second part is the installation of LanSchool.
 
 

Part 1 (Mac): Connect to the LanSchool Shared Folder

  • Click on your 'Go' menu, then 'Connect to server...'
  • Type the following in the server address field:
       smb://10.211.8.253/lanschool$
  • Click 'Connect'
  • Enter your Otsego username and password (this is the username/password you use to connect to your T or M drives)
  • Check the 'Remember this password in my keychain' checkbox
  • Click 'Connect'
  • Make sure you're folder is on the correct view by clicking on this icon (keep this window open)
  • Open 'Sytem Preferences'
  • Click 'Users & Groups'
  • Click the 'Login Items' tab in the upper-right corner
  • Drag the 'lanschool$' icon from your previous window over to this menu
                You can now close the system preferences window and continue to Part 2
 
 

Part 2: Installing LanSchool

            If not, you can find it in your applications folder (click your 'Go' menu, then 'Applications')
Your mac may give you an error that you cannot run the installer from an unidentified source. If this happens:
  • Open 'System Preferences', 'Security & Privacy'
  • Click the 'Open Anyways' button
  • Follow the prompts to install LanSchool
            After the install is completed, you'll need to load your class list. HS & JH teachers will need to load their                   new class each period. 
  To load your class list:
  • Click on the double arrow in the upper-right corner and choose 'Class List', 'Load Dynamic Class List'

  First Time Running LanSchool
  The first time you run LanSchool, you'll need to do this before seeing your class lists:
  • Click on the 'Options' button 
  • Click on the 'Choose' button
  • Select the LanSchool$ folder by clicking on '10.211.8.253' in the left side of the menu
  • Click 'Open' 

  • Select your class from the left menu and click the 'Load' button
 
NOTE - Any available classes that you teach should show up in the left menu.

Part 2: Installing LanSchool

            If not, you can find it in your Start menu (click your 'Start' menu, then 'All Programs')
  • Follow the prompts to install LanSchool
            After the install is completed, you'll need to load your class list. HS & JH teachers will need to load their                   new class each period. 
  To load your class list:
  • Click on the double arrow in the upper-right corner and choose 'Class List', 'Load Dynamic Class List'

  First Time Running LanSchool
  The first time you run LanSchool, you'll need to do this before seeing your class lists:
  • Click on the 'Options' button 
  • Click on the 'Browse' button
  • Double-click 'Computer'
  • Select the LanSchool$ folder 
  • Click the 'Ok' button 
  • Click the 'Ok' button on the next window as well

  • Select your class from the left menu and click the 'Load' button
 
NOTE - Any available classes that you teach should show up in the left menu.
