Junior High School Library

Mrs. Brenda Mackey Librarian

ots_aca_bm@nwoca.org

Looking for a reader-friendly place to hang out???
Then spend some time in the library!

Our library is student-centered, with a focus on reading for pleasure. It is my goal to bring students and books together in fun and practical ways. By encouraging students to come often, I become familiar with their particular interests. This helps me guide each student to find something he/she enjoys reading, whether it be a book, magazine, website, or newspaper.

Junior High students are permitted to have two books and one magazine checked out at any time, and may keep them for two weeks. Students may also renew their books. There is no fine for late returns, but lost or damaged materials must be paid for. I use a variety of activities and collaborate with teachers to motivate our students to increase the amount of time they devote to pleasure reading. Parents, you can be a major motivator just by taking time to read at home! I encourage students to recommend materials they want to have in their library, and am happy to honor their requests. Parents, feel free to make requests, too, and stop in to see what your junior high school students are reading.
