Haskins Elementary Library

Haskins Elementary Library offers a variety of reading and reference materials. We have easy reader books, nonfiction, fiction, magazines, World Book Encyclopedias, and many other reference materials.

Each class comes into the Library once a week for thirty minutes. The first ten minutes are used to learn library skills, have a book read to them or introduce other library information.

The students in grades two through six can take out two books. The first grade students take out one book until January and then they can take out two books. They can keep the books for a week and are encouraged to take out at least one accelerated reader.

At Haskins we have had the Accelerated Reader program for several years. The students can chose a book that is marked with an "A." After reading the book they can take a test on a computer in their classroom and earn points. At the end of the school year the students can purchase items with their points.

Parent are welcome to come in and volunteer. They can help students select and sign out books, shelves books and perform other duties that need done.
