Student Activities Crossing Guards We have volunteer crossing guards from grades 4 and 5 that monitor students in the morning as students arrive at school and in the afternoon during dismissal. Crossing guards rotate duties every week. They are treated with a reward at the end of each week and receive hot chocolate on cold mornings. And they are recognized at our awards ceremony at the end of the school year. Student Council This is a student leadership organization which encourages student participation in organizing various student led activities. Officers are selected in the fall from grades 4 and 5. Each grade level is asked to nominate six students. Students narrow the field to 3 candidates. Elections then take place to elect officers. Activities include a Veteran's Day Assembly, Spiritwear Sale, Movie Night, and Staff Appreciation Week, talent shows, book sales and Ohio/Michigan food drives in the fall and spring. Events spontaneously taken on during the past year include raising cash and clothing donations for local familes who lost everything in house fire, supplies collected for our soliders serving overseas, and penny drives to sponsor Honor Flight. |
