GRAND RAPIDS ELEMENTARY LIBRARY
Kelly Dennen, Library Aide
Library rules are listed below. If you have any questions regarding the library or materials available, I can be reached through the school at 419-832-4765.
As many of you are aware, much of the success of our library depends on the generous donation of time from our library volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in our library on either a Tuesday or Thursday, please contact me. Even if you would like to be placed on the volunteer list on a substitute basis, the donation of your time is greatly appreciated by the students as well as myself.
Enjoy the library, it’s the best part of the week!
Library Rules
- You may check out your books for one week. Books are due on your next scheduled library day. Reference materials cannot be checked out by students.
Kindergarten: One (1) book from the small paperback or everyone section
First Grade: Two (2) books from the small paperback or everyone section
Second Grade: Two (2) books from the small paperback or everyone section and non-fiction books with a red dot on the spine. In January, all books available.
Third Grade: Two (2) books - any selection(no magazines)
Fourth Grade: Two (2) books, or one (1) book and one (1) magazine
Fifth Grade: Two (2) books, and one (1) magazine
Sign the borrower’s card and have the volunteer at the check out desk stamp the date of return on the card when you check out your materials.
- Only the allowed number of books may be checked out at one time. If your books are not returned, you cannot check out more books. If you only have one previously checked out book, you may check out one more book.
- Books may be renewed for one (1) additional week. To renew a book, you must bring the book to the library and sign the borrower’s card again. A book may be renewed only once, unless special arrangements have been made.
- Library books need special care. Be sure to keep them in a safe place away from pets and younger children. You are responsible for the condition your book is returned in.
- If you notice that a book is damaged, please bring it to my attention. I have special supplies to repair library materials with. If a book is damaged beyond repair, or lost, you must pay for the cost of a new book. Non-payment will result in not receiving your grade card.
- You may look at books in the library as long as you are quiet, and do not disturb others. Talking is permitted in low voices, except when instruction is taking place.
- Please use a shelf marker when removing a book from the shelf. If you do not know where a book belongs when returning it to the shelf, please place it on top of the shelves, or on a table. I will then put the book away.
Remember – enjoy the library – it’s the best part of the week!
