Purple Martin

The Purple Martin is classified as a swallow. However, the Purple Martin is the largest of the swallows and there wings follow a more triangular shape in the air as opposed to the sickle shape wings that most swallows have.  This bird is most known for it's purple color, but only the males have this purple plumage.  The females have a gray breast and white underside.  Purple Martins are also known for their attraction to apartment style bird houses.
