Pike

These carnivorous fishes are distinguished by a duck-billed snout, sharp teeth, and a long cylindrical body.
Description:
 Size, usually 18 - 30 in.; rod and reel record, 46 lb. 2 oz. Body olive, sides with light barlike spots on a dark background, dark spots on fins.
Habitat:
 Ponds, lakes, and streams.
Food:
 Other fishes and frogs
Remarks:
Spawn in the spring in shallow water and flooded marshes.
Range:
Northern North America, south to Nebraska and Missouri, west of Appalachians.
