What Wrong With This Picture?

This Cardinal is currently in rehabilitation at the Toledo Zoo.  It suffers from a lost leg and malnutrition.

Cardinal

The Cardinal is very distinct with its red plumage and upright appearance.  The males have a red body with black face.  The females have a brownish gray back.  This bird eats from a bird feeder with no hesitation.

Cardinals are found in trees like this.  Cardinals prefer to nest in hard wood trees and like to feed on berries.

A favorite food of cardinals is the sunflower seed. They have a strong, short, conical beak adapted for eating seeds.
