Birds Of Prey

There are many birds of prey in Wood County.  Most of them are fairly common to the area. Sometimes called raptors, birds of prey usually have a hooked beak that is used to kill and tear apart its prey. The end of the beak is like a very sharp tooth that can pierce and cut.

To capture their prey, these birds have strong legs that end in sharp, long talons. The talons enable the bird of prey to grasp its captive with great force and carry it away.
