The project also will be available to community members at various events and scheduled work sessions throughout the year.
Otsego community members and students were invited to submit design ideas. Hunter Smith, Mackenzie Wenig, Bonnie Ebka, and the high school art students submitted designs. With high school art teachers Deb Bowers and Tina Helle’s supervision, a combination of the drawings will be used in the final mosaic mural art.
The project is being coordinated by Gail Christofferson-Works. She says, “It is important to realize that not only will there be a beautiful piece of art for all to enjoy, there will also be a sense of pride that our community can share in having created the piece together.”
The project is sponsored by the Otsego Elementary PTO, with funding also from the Otsego Endowment Foundation and a grant from Sherry Euler and the Monsanto Farm Group.
Elementary students will have an opportunity to work on the mosaic mural in the fall during their art class. For more information or continual updates, a Facebook page has been created: Otsego mosaicsbyknights.
