* Acquired used 25 Dells, Microsoft provided the newer WIN 2000 that needs installed; had hoped to recycle the memory from the Windows 95 computers that these replaced to bring the RAM up to 96 Mb, but they were incompatible speeds. Some of these were upgraded to Windows XP and also installed extra memory.

As the Windows 95 computers were taken out of service the memory was added to Windows 98 computers to bring RAM up to 96m.

As Microsoft no longer supports an operating system, the computer is kept in service until it has problems that require updates/obsolete parts.

**  Some new Dell Optiplex 320 Windows XP computers have replaced most of the old Windows 98 computers at the three elementary buildings.  To maximize the number of computers purchased, monitors were not included – the old monitors are compatible with these new computers.  A new USB keyboard and USB mouse came with each computer.  Each computer has a CD burner and can play DVDs; there is not a floppy drive.  These computers can be connected to a projector but do not have “video out” to connect to a TV. Memory from the replaced Windows 98 computers was inserted into remaining Windows 98 computer to increase capacity.
