Training Opportunities

NWOCA NWOET ONLINE OTHER

Otsego, as a paying member of NWOCA, provides various training opportunities from which you may pick and choose depending upon your own schedule and needs.

NWOCA

Ed TECH - Please develop a working relationship with NWOCA's educational technologist, Julianne Lange (lange@nwoca.org).  She is very willing to help you with computer skills and would especially like to assist with tech integration in your classroom.  Working as a team, she will assist in locating Internet resource materials, creating student activities, developing lesson plans, etc.  As her schedule permits, she could possibly meet with you.  Julianne has developed a web site to foster communication  to post handouts and other materials.  Please visit her Resource Visits web site, then click on the Otsego Local Schools button.

Take advantage of free after-school workshops in either Perrysburg or Archbold. Learn about NWOCA email, DSL, Word (various topics within the program), PowerPoint, Excel, etc.  Visit the NWOCA training page click Scheduled Classes, choose a site, register on-line.  Keep in mind we do not have some of the programs for which they offer training:  Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Filemaker.  Our Windows XP computers do have Movie Maker.

NWOET

Workshops and classes are frequently offered for a fee (Otsego has not continued as a member district).  This registration fee is usually able to be funded with SchoolNet professional development money.  At the time of the request, indicate if the account is SchoolNet professional development money and the treasurer should then fill in the account codes.  Be sure to fill out a purchase request and a professional development request.

Check either the NWOET Scanner or the NWOET website for offerings.  NWOET usually sponsors a Tech Conference in the fall that qualifies for SN PD funds - 2003's will be held in Clyde Ohio.

Graduate credit is sometimes available for a fee payable to BGSU in addition to the registration fee payable to NWOET.  You may be eligible for tuition reimbursement.  Be  sure to submit all necessary paperwork so it is approved prior to the start of class.  On your paperwork please indicate that it may qualify for some SchoolNet professional development funding.

Online Training

In addition to using these resource pages for your personal online training, the Internet holds various tutorials.  You might start with The Best Free Desktop & Office Tutorials on the Web

Other Opportunities

Technology Workshops and tech conferences from other providers may qualify for some SchoolNet professional development funding also.
