Gridlines, Borders, and Zeroes

Gridlines Borders Show All Zeroes 000123

Hide Gridlines

Hiding gridlines changes your work area so you don't see gridlines; you may want to set some borders (see below) to make your information easier to read.

1.  On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the View tab.

2.  Under Window options, clear the Gridlines check box.

Cell Borders

Add borders around cells to make information easier to read once the document is printed.

1. Select the cells you want to add borders to.

2. In the menu bar click Format, click Cells, and then click the Border tab.

3. Click the line style you want, and then click a button to show on which side(s) of the cell you want to see the line.

Show All Zeroes

If you type 00123, by default only 123 will show in the cell, here's how to change the appearance.

1. Select the cells you want to format.

2. In the menu bar click Format, click Cells, and then click the Number tab.

3. In the Category list, click Custom.

4. In the Type box, edit the number format codes (see codes at right) to display the number the way you want.

You can use number formats to change the appearance of numbers, including money (currency), dates and times, percents, decimals, etc.
