PowerPoint as a Word Processor
Sixth graders used PowerPoint to organize and work
on a lengthy country report over a period of time rather than using Microsoft
Word.
A Few Tips:
- Before preparing any slides, change the Page
Setup (from File) to Custom, and change the dimensions to 8.5" and
11" rather than the Custom default settings. This will permit the
objects placed on the slides to print to the correct size rather than
everything being reduced to fit within the default margins. This is
preferred so students still have to consider "white space",
layout, balance, etc. as they work on the report.
- Be sure to use an auto-layout so the title text
will be visible in the outline. It makes it easier to work throughout
the presentation.
- If you wish to use WordArt for the slide title,
change the original text box title text's color to white. The
"old" text will not show on the slide but will appear in the
outline. The WordArt will appear how you created it.
