Make the Video

Simplified Steps:

1 & 2  - see  Getting content into Movie Maker 

3.  Drag video clips and/or stills down to storyboard.  Split, combine, or trim as needed - see help file in Movie Maker.

 4.  Add video effects by clicking on “View video effects” in the tasks area - make a selection, drag onto the clips in the storyboard (a star will show on the clip) - can be added to video, picture, or title - see list of video effects

 5.  Add video transitions into the spaces between the clips in the storyboard by clicking on “View video transitions” in the tasks area - you can see then transitions on the expanded timeline (to expand - click the plus sign by the word video in the timeline) - see list of video transitions

 5.  Add titles and/or credits by clicking on “Make titles and credits” in the tasks area and following the indicated steps.-Titles will appear as separate “clips” between the other elements on the storyboard.  If you want the title to appear on top of a clip, drag the title to the “title overlay” bar at the bottom of the timeline. See detailed instructions and list of titles.

 6.  Add narration if wanted, by clicking Tools in the menu bar, then “Narrate Timeline”.  The timeline indicator must be on an empty space in the audio/music track, then click Start Narration.  Click Stop Narration when finished.  Save (it will appear in the audio/narration track.  Click Done

 7.  Add background music if wanted.  The timeline indicator must be on an empty space in the audio/music track, then drag the sound clip onto the audio/music track
NOTE:  You may use only the sound from a video clip by dragging the clip into the audio/music track.

8.  Save the project.

9.  Save the movie.  You could save to your computer as well as record back to the camera (save to DV camera is an option under Movie Tasks) and then onto a VHS tape.
