Borders = Paragraph Borders, not Page Borders - see Page Borders further down on this page
Highlight what you want to have a border (not the
page).
Click Format in the menu bar
Click Borders and Shading
Click the Borders tab (not Page Border)
Select the style, color and line thickness of your border.
Think about how you want the border to look and then choose the correct "apply to":
Click OK to place the border around the highlighted text.

don’t want the border to go all the way across the page (around the

When
adding a border to a paragraph you can shorten
the horizontal border width by increasing the paragraph’s indents using
the Paragraph command from the Format men or by using the Ruler (drag the
lower markers). |

Page Borders
Make sure nothing is highlighted.
Click Format in the menu bar.
Click Borders and Shading
Click the the middle tab that says Page Border (not Borders)
Click the down arrows as necessary to see your choices.
Select your preferences for Setting, Style, Color, Width, or Art.
Click OK to place the border around the outer edge of the page.
PROBLEM -
If part of the border is cut, click the Options button that is under the
"Apply to" section, under "Measure from" click the down
pointing arrow, select Text, click OK, click OK again.
